Maheshwari shares her insights into achieving a perfect score and discusses her preparation strategy for JEE Advanced 2023.

What is your primary motivation to crack the IIT entrance?

While my father wished for me to pursue a career in Chartered Accountancy, I have always been drawn to Mathematics and Science. Witnessing my brother’s journey to IIT during my upbringing, I too aspired to follow the same path. My family has been an unwavering source of support, especially my brother, who effectively explained the life and culture of IITs to my father.

My study schedule

For JEE Main, I dedicated around 5 to 6 hours of study time at home either before or after my classes. I would wake up at approximately 6:30 am and begin studying at 7 am. My classes would commence at 3:30 pm and continue until 8:30 pm. Following classes, I would either study further if I felt energized or rest if I needed to recharge.

Regarding JEE Advanced, my coaching institute, Allen Bangalore, provides study materials such as previous year’s question papers, solved papers, and modules. Additionally, I revise my coaching and class notes daily. I actively track my mistakes to ensure their avoidance in the future.

Books I referred to

For JEE Main, NCERT is the most crucial book. For JEE Advanced, I study from MS Chouhan and Himanshu Pandey for Organic Chemistry, Narendra Awasthi for Physical Chemistry, and VS Jaiswal and K Kumar for Inorganic Chemistry. I utilize Blackbook, Yellowbook, and Pinkbook for Mathematics. In Physics, my references include Irodov, some portions of Pathfinder, and HC Verma.

In my free time or when feeling overwhelmed, I take walks and listen to music to relax.

My advice for students appearing in JEE Main

Consistency is the key to success, and hard work is imperative. It is crucial to follow the guidance of teachers, revise regularly, and ensure that mistakes are not repeated.
