New Delhi, September 4, 2025 – The Ministry of Education today released the much-awaited National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the 10th edition of the rankings, which cover 17 diverse categories including Overall, Universities, Colleges, Engineering, Management, Medical, Law, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Architecture, Skill Universities, Open Universities, and more.

This year, IIT Madras once again secured the top spot in the “Overall” category, followed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and IIT Bombay. The rankings, prepared by a Corpus Committee under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, are based on key parameters such as teaching, learning resources, research and professional practice, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

Overall Category:

Universities Category: IISc Bengaluru emerged as the top university, with JNU (Delhi) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education securing second and third ranks respectively. Here is the detailed list!

With 17 categories evaluated, the NIRF provides a holistic snapshot of India’s higher education ecosystem, helping students and parents make informed choices.
