Eligibility (10+2 or its equivalent): To be eligible for the B.Com programs at IGNOU one has to be 10+2 passed from a recognized board. Though IGNOU offers numerous B.Com specializations the eligibility criteria for every branch remains the same. Learning Management System – In contrast to conventional universities, the method of instruction adopted by IGNOU differs. The framework of the Open University is more student-driven and the learner participates actively in the process of education. The majority of instructions are conveyed through distance and not face to face. The University has a multimedia teaching approach. It includes: Self-Learning Material, Audio-video programmes transmitted through radio and television, Teleconferencing sessions • Face-to-face counselling at Study Centres by Academic Counsellors, Assignments/ Tutorials/ Practicals/ Dissertation/ Project work.
Assessment – The assessment of Distance B.Com consists of two parts: i) assignments, and ii) Term End Examinations. In the final result, all the assignments of a course carry 30 percent weightage while 70 percent weightage is given for Term-End Examination. To complete the course the student needs to clear the exam with a minimum percentage of 40%.
Assignments – The assignments can be found on the official IGNOU website. Your final score will include the marks that you earn in your assignments. The presentation of assignments before the filing date is obligatory in order to prevent some kind of limitation during the term-end examinations.
Examination at the End of the Term – In June and December, the University holds a term exam twice a year. You can only take the exam after your course has been completed. The term-end examination is the main component of the assessment framework and the final result carries a weight of 70 per cent. Before the last date, you must fill in and submit the examination form.
